A Quick Trip To Nashville for a Wedding

To say that our excursion to a Nashville wedding was a whirlwind would be an understatement of epic proportions.

While a Sunday wedding six hours from home might sound like “ROAD TRIP” to some, factoring in a Friday and Saturday night youth conference prior to departure is where life gets complicated. And so, the trailer packed and Starbucks and Taco Bell in hand, Fun DMC left Springfield around 9:00 PM on Saturday night enroute to Lebanon, Tennessee just on the other side of Music City USA – or better known as Nashville.

Even when you take into consideration the hour gained from the bi-annual daylight savings adjustment, it felt like 4:00 AM by the time Fun DMC arrived at their respective airbnb. Although we were all exhausted and all immediately crashed hard, it was around 8:00 AM when our bodies told us enough was enough and it was time to start the day. The gang ventured out to find lunch before load in which took us to a local haunt known as The Blue Moon BBQ. From there we made our way to the Cedars Of Lebanon State Park where our old friend and former band mate (some of us for three bands) Sam Davis was to be wed to his fiance Gloria Tan.

The stage set and the band sound checked, it was time to make a coffee/Tylenol run before the show. In many ways it was a reunion for some of the members of Fun DMC and it was amazing to see Sam take the stage with us again on a few numbers. The dance floor was packed almost the entire night and by the end when it was time to see the bride and groom off there were many who wanted the band to continue with the show.

Although the airbnb crew had initially intended to swing by the world famous Nashville strip later that night, our coffee high had run out and it was time to return to our accommodations where we settled for some Captain Morgan and Papa John’s. The next morning before departing, the band made sure to stop by three of Nashville’s must see locations: The Frothy Monkey for coffee, Hattie B’s for Nashville Hot Chicken, and Five Daughter’s Bakery for some gluten free, sugar free, paleo donuts.

The ride home was full of music, conversation, and eventually burnout. We arrived in Springfield to discover that the axle on trailer was just about to fall off. We hope to have that remedied later this week. Stay tuned after the credits to find out.
