Limp Bizkit vs Nine Inch Nails – Nookie/Closer

Posted by on February 12th 2018

This is an interesting mashup that was sent to me by my brother. Limp Bizkit came about during the nu-metal phase of the early 2000s with such hits as, well, Nookie, Rollin’, and a surprisingly good cover of Behind Blue Eyes. And lets not forget about the profanity-filled Break Stuff, which I feel is the anthem of every angsty teenager whose parents just told them that they couldn’t go out over the weekend. Nine Inch Nails (NIN) is an alternative staple among the music scene with Trent Reznor breaking out and scoring various films as well, most notably The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. A few well known NIN songs include Closer, Head Like A Hole, The Hand That Feeds and Hurt (which was covered by Johnny Cash).

Quick story, so Fun DMC was booked to play at a private Halloween Party a couple years ago. As mentioned in this blog post we were reminded of our age at this show. The kids at the party had made a few requests that this band (well, at least me) did not know, one of which was Closer. Of course me being out of the Pop scene since, well, forever thought that when they requested Closer, they were requesting the NIN song (probably NSFW) which would have been an interesting song to play. Mostly because the song should probably not be played around children, given the lyrical content. But I learned of this new generational gap, again, about what music kids listen to and what I listen to and most times they don’t mash up, unlike the previously listed two songs. Taking the instrumental of Closer and the vocals of Nookie, a solid mashup was created by la_croche_remix.

I hope you enjoyed that mashup! If not, that’s cool. Music is a subjective art. If you have any cool mashups you think we would like to hear (or maybe even play) send it to us over at our Facebook page or shoot me an e-mail at plustalonholmes@fundmc.net.
