This weeks Mashup Monday brings a mashup created a couple years ago by oneboredjeu Mashup. Sober Black Horse is a mashup of Black Horse and the Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall and Call Me When You’re Sober by Evanescence, and I’m not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical at first. Not because I doubt a proven mashup artist, but because I love Evanescence. Amy Lee is one of the best vocalists in music today and I am always a bit weary when people cover any of her songs or mash them up with anything. Much like when people attempt to do some serious cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, it seems to fall flat most times when it is attempted to change up an Evanescence song. Having said that, this mashup is fantastic! It surprises me how well Amy Lee’s vocals mash with a more upbeat instrumentation, and it’s definitely a favorite of mine now. You could definitely add this to your playlist and leave it there until Spotify tells you that you have too many songs on your playlist, and then show them this song and they will just permanently add it to everyone’s playlist. It’s just that good.
