Mashups provide a nice change of scenery no matter what type of music you listen to or prefer. It can give people an opportunity to listen to another style of music while still enjoying the music that may fall into their preferred genre, like say really liking Michael Jackson songs and at the same time getting blasted in the face with some classic Iron Maiden guitar riffs. Youtube channel Nightmare Lyra put together a fantastic mashup of Iron Maiden’s The Trooper and Michael Jackson’s Beat It and its honestly one of my personal favorite mashups. While good mashups have the lyrics and music of two different songs combined together to create what sounds like a single song, this mashup just has that connection that should make other mashups artists jealous they weren’t able to jump on this one as soon as Lyra did. Just to make sure no one is left out, this mashup also includes samples from Caught in a Mosh by Anthrax, White Wedding by Billy Idol and Painkiller by Judas Priest. Oh, and we can’t forget that Eddie Van Halen supplied the guitar for the original Beat It.
