1. Who are you/what’s your elevator pitch to couples interested in your work?

Hi, I’m Matt DeBackere and I love helping clients make their wedding day a success while having fun and getting amazing photos!

2. What do you think are important questions a couple should ask when choosing a photographer?

Always know exactly what you paying for ahead of time and make sure to meet with your photographer to make sure they match your style and personality.

3. How does a couple pick a good photographer out of the dozens in the area?

I think it goes back to choosing someone with good references, a long work history and someone you feel like you’ll get along well with! There is nothing worse than having a bossy photographer on your wedding day!

4. What is your go-to tip for making the wedding day go smoothly for everyone?

I always make sure to work with the couple on scheduling so we know we have enough time to get everything we need!

5. What advice do you always give a couple before their wedding day?

Relax and enjoy it, don’t sweat the small stuff and don’t let it slip by without soaking it in.

6. What can a couple do to make sure they look good in their photos?

Hire a professional. It’s my job to tell couples how to pose and exactly what to do, to get the best images. Having fun though and being flirty with your future spouse is great too!

7. Why is wedding photography so expensive?

Like they say you get what you pay for. There are many people out there with some camera gear that may want to make a few bucks extra on the weekend by photographing your wedding. The rest of us that actually do this for a living though know the investment that we have to make in gear, time, planning and have years of experience to rely on. It’s also a way to separate yourself from those that don’t quite know what they are doing.

8. Why don’t you give out the original pictures or the whole day’s shoot?

I think you’re asking here why don’t I provide them with every photo I’ve taken? It’s simple, you wouldn’t want a painter to give you every rough sketch and drawing they made before their final work of art. Photography is the same way, I shoot a lot and then refine what I’ve photographed to the very best images so clients are overwhelmed with images that were’t the best.

9. How far in advance should a couple book?

It’s never too early, I’ve had brides book as far out as 2 years to make sure they got their date reserved!

10. Should a couple tip a photographer?

It is not necessary, I price myself to make a living and don’t expect to be tipped though it’s always a great gesture when couples are so happy with my work that they decide too.
