Cinco de Mayo at La Fiesta

Cinco de Mayo

The seemingly never ending Winter of 2018 has finally subsided and, we hope, that snow is finally just a memory rather than a forecast. And that means one thing: outdoor shows. Cinco de Mayo at La Fiesta was the first of many outdoor events on the Fun DMC schedule and to say it was a lovely evening would be an understatement.

The band arrived to set up a couple of hours before hand to begin their set up. One obstacle that they did initially face was the lack of adequate power. Turns out the closest power outlet to the stage was a 200′ run next door to Wilkerson’s Auto. After Chad spent almost 40 minutes stretching out two lines of power, a mystery man with a generator arrived, better late than never. The 3500W Honda generator fired up and the Fun DMC show began to breathe in the 60 cycle power required to power our sound, lights, and instruments. And then it stopped. Turns out that generators require fuel and when they run dry, so does the power flow. After a brief hiatus, several gallons of lovely petrol arrived to replenish our generator and we were back on track. The show began and the enthusiastic crowd enjoyed an evening of margaritas, Coors Light, and Fun DMC.

A couple of points worth noting:

  1. Generators require fuel.
  2. Fun DMC requires power.
  3. We love when people sing and dance with us. However, that is not an invitation to take microphones from our hands and scurry off into the darkness.
  4. If you decide to dine out at a Mexican restaurant on Cinco De Mayo without anticipating a significant wait, you’re going to have a bad time.
  5. Outdoor shows are the best.

Fun DMC will be off this weekend but we have plenty of shows coming soon.
