Fourth of July Weekend

Fourth of July Weekend

This past Fourth of July weekend found Fun DMC performing at two events: The Springfield Jaycee’s Capital City Celebration on Saturday night and Jacksonville’s Fourth of July Blast in Nichols Park.  Like any Midwestern summer event, weather can always be a concern. And even though most of Central Illinois spend the weekend under clouds, rain, and thunder storm warnings, things always seemed to clear up right when the band took the stage.

While we have spent the last two years building a very faithful fan base who come out to support us at each and every show, it never gets old introducing our brand of music to new faces. This was the case at both events and it’s always refreshing to see new faces smiling when they realize just why they have been handed a Polaroid picture during “Hey Ya,” or that look of either elation (or severe disappointment) when we introduce them to our Metallica + Journey mashup.  The members of Fun DMC cannot tell you how much it means to us to have all of our friends and family and fans come out and support this band every weekend. And to the new friends that we made this past weekend, welcome to the family.

It’s definitely worth mentioning a few folks that helped make this weekend a success!
Huge shout out to Travis Lickey at AptFoto for a photo shoot that resulted in taking everyone’s newsfeed hostage Friday morning.  Thanks to Harris Sound and Lighting and Boyd Music for stellar production.   A big thank you to the Springfield Jaycees for giving us a chance to bring our circus to the streets at the Capital City Celebration and to Tammy and all of the incredibly hospitable volunteers in Jacksonville – we hope to see you all next year.

And finally, thank you to Diet Peach Snapple: giver of life.  You sustain us, refresh us, and restore us. Forever and ever, Amen.
