The Boggs Wedding at Bomke's Patch and Delano Law Offices

We are currently in the eye of a chaotic storm.

Things began for Fun DMC last Saturday afternoon at Springfield’s premiere west side venue, Bomke’s Patch. For anyone unfamiliar, Bomke’s Patch is a family run pumpkin patch and Christmas tree farm with a lovely rustic barn that has been renovated into a wedding reception hall. The couple, the new Mr. and Mrs. Bryce and Chelsie Boggs, had actually booked the band almost two years ago. It was interesting to consider how much Fun DMC has evolved in that time. Honestly, in many ways we are a completely different band. Of course we have made a few significant personnel changes but beyond that, in many ways our vision, our approach, and our set list has evolved. That said, it was quite the compliment to hear from a couple that booked us in our infancy, how much they enjoyed the direction we have taken the band.

In spite of the sweltering June heat, Saturday evening was actually quite bearable thanks to the persistent breeze blowing through the barn and across the dance floor. Catering was provided by Poe’s Catering whose BBQ sauce is second to none in this area and photography was captured by Kara Evans Photographer. The dance floor was full of familiar faces from the Jennings’ wedding in May and Fun DMC had a blast delivering mashups and medleys in such a rustic setting.

The next day, Fun DMC arrived at what can best be described as a wind tunnel. The large tent on Adams Street was acting like a large parachute and during set up, there were several times where we wondered if the concrete blocks securing the angry structure might give way. The band had been hired to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Delano Law Offices. Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder was on site to commemorate the event and the band enjoyed a blustery afternoon of playing music for their staff, their clients, and Downtown Springfield pedestrians. Though it was somewhat of an early load out for the band our work was far from done.

You may recall that Dr. Albert Capati and the band released a parody video of The Weeknd’s “I Can’t Feel My Face” a couple of months ago. Without giving away too much I can say that production on a new project began Sunday night, continued Monday and we are planning to wrap tonight. Choreographed dance moves and ’90s styles are abundant.

This Friday night we will be at the Firefighter’s Postal Lake Club. Please drop by.
