Kiss Biggie (Sixpence None The Richer vs The Notorious B.I.G.)

While one of the most popular mashups on the entirety of YouTube happens to be a clever mix with Miley Cyrus’ Party In The USA (we could probably make a top ten Party In the USA mashup list), I caught this gem the other day when I was looking on a whim for ideas to go with Sixpence None The Richer’s bubblegum single “Kiss Me”.

What’s interesting about the original song is that even though you probably haven’t thought of it since it fell off the radio in 1999, it was a major hit.  After it was released, it hit #2 on the charts, only coming up just short in topping TLC’s “No Scrubs”.  It lasted 35 weeks and is the only reason you remember anything about the movie “She’s All That”.  It also was nominated for a Grammy.

Bonus points from Robert in that the video was directed by Steve Taylor.
Bonus points from Aaron in that New Found Glory did a rad cover of it.

Then there’s “Party and Bulls***” by the Notorious B.I.G.  There are so, so many great Biggie mashups floating around that we could easily make a top ten of his mixes too.  While not his most well-known of songs, it definitely has all of the rapper’s trademarks, including his lazy flow, which sits tightly over Kiss Me’s distinct acoustic strum pattern.

Bonus points from Robert in that the video features Sean Combs and Lil’ Kim.
Bonus points from Aaron in that this dude did a rad shirtless ukulele cover of it.
